District Ministerial License

         

          1. When you have completed the first year of your educational requirements (Level 1) and have held a local minister's license for‑a one‑year period (Manual 427) ask your pastor to complete the church board interview necessary to begin the process to make application for your district minister's license.

 

                   a.  A prerequisite for a District License is the successful completion of the 5 courses and  History and Polity of the Church of the Nazarene for a total of 6 classes.

 

          2. Upon Local approval, your pastor is to secure a “Local Church Board Referral” form for a district license from the District Secretary. You are to complete the application, have it signed by your Senior Pastor, your Local Church Board Secretary and return the application and to the district secretary.

3.     The District Board of Ministerial Studies will review your educational

preparedness for a District license. You are required to provide official transcripts of your educational achievements: college and/or seminary transcripts by January 1st of each calendar year.

          Any course work completed at ADMTC will be automatically forwarded to the DBMS.

 

          4. There are required to meet with both the District Board of Ministerial Studies and the District Board of Ministerial Credentials.

          If you are a resident at one of our Institutions of Higher Learning you must contact the Chairpersons of both Boards informing them of you status. 

          Appointments are scheduled by you through the District office.

 

          The purpose of the Studies board is to evaluate you on your educational progress. The purpose of the Credentials board is to evaluate your character and understanding of your roll as a minister on the District. Please note a District License is not a “right,” it is an honor that is awarded to you, academic achievement alone does not qualify you for issuance of a district license.

 

          At the end of your interview with the Credentials board a member of that board will inform you of your status for licensure.

 

          5. At our annual District Assembly, upon the favorable vote of the assembly, you will be issued a district license valid for a one‑year period by the district secretary.
